Peptides are short chains of 2 to 50 amino acids that act as building blocks for proteins such as collagen, keratin, and elastin. They regulate biological processes, promote tissue repair and growth, and support immune functions Due to their small size they are easily absorbed.

  • Structure: they are shorter than full proteins, consisting of amino acids linked by peptide bonds

  • Functions: They function as messengers, instructing skin cells to produce more collagen, acting as hormones (such as insulin), or helping to repair muscles

  • Skin Benefits: They can be used to improve firmness, reduce wrinkles, and increase elasticity, often without the irritation that retinols may provide. Many peptides are used for "anti-aging"

  • Sources: they are found naturally in the body, in food (eggs, milk, soy), and as synthetic supplements for anti aging and muscle growth

  • Other Benefits: lowering high blood pressure, killing microbes, preventing the formation of blood clots, use as antioxidants
